Capturing The Expressions of Layers, Folds & Lights At Galerie 5

On August 8, art enthusiasts and design aficionados descended upon 50 Craig Road for a soiree hosted at Galerie 5. The evening marked the opening of guest artist Bbblob’s new show, a new collection of ceramic luminaires from eshen ceramics, and the premiere of the new Circuit.11 modular track lighting system. Here’s what went down that evening and what you can expect to see on your next visit to Galerie 5.

A welcome addition to the walls of Galerie 5 is the works of Jacelyn Zhen, better known as the artist Bbblob. The launch of the gallery’s new releases also coincided with the opening of her show, Radiant Traces, which enthralled visitors with its vivid and geometric forms. Zhen was also present to provide a keen insight into her creative process to the guests who were savouring canapes and drinking wine throughout the evening.

For the uninitiated, Bbblob's artwork is a kaleidoscope of colour and form that weaves together printmaking, painting, and sculpture on layered cuts of wood, resulting in a visual symphony that navigates the vibrant and dynamic interplay of shapes, texture, and colours.

Adding a touch of elegance to the event was the launch of eshen ceramics’ new line of ceramic lamps at Galerie 5. Hailing from the south of Taiwan, the design studio helmed by Eshen Chen is renowned for its handcrafted, one-of-a-kind lamp designs that draw inspiration from the natural world.

Each lamp is a testament to the brand's dedication to long-lasting beauty and everyday functionality, blending seamlessly into any living space.

The evening’s ambience was further enhanced by the light layering of the new innovative Circuit.11 lighting system. The gallery space showcased the versatility of the modular track lighting system and how it can be installed on ceilings, walls, and even both on the same track.

Its ultra-slim profile of just 11mm also helps it blend into the surroundings, and this was the first time that interior designers and homeowners alike could witness the sleek and game-changing approach of track lighting in person.

In case you missed the festivities, you can still head down to Galerie 5 until August 28 to check out Bbblob’s Radiant Traces.
