Veteran lifestyle blogger, Mong Chin Yeoh, better known by her online alias, Mongabong, has been a major player in Singapore’s content creation scene for several years now. Recently, Mong Chin found a new place to call home: a Japandi-style space infused with industrial edge.
Textured ceiling surfaces complement natural light wood accents; combined with our series of AEON luminaires, the resulting effect is a home that is the definition of “Instagram-worthy”.
In this edition of Lights On, we shed light on the design and planning behind Mong Chin’s soothing, contemporary home, as well as how she uses the space in her daily life.
Mong Chin's airy and Japandi-style home features the discreet Line Mini series, camouflaged between wooden beams.
What is your inspiration?
I wanted to incorporate the soothing elements of the Muji style, paired with an edgier Industrial style for a unique look.
Do you have a favourite nook or area in your home?
My kitchen!
How did you incorporate your personal style into your interiors?
I’m usually girly, minimal and clean. My husband Matt on the other hand, likes more masculine styles that are darker, so this interior marries both.
The kitchen is a favourite place of Mong Chin's; lit up by natural daylight and the ever-cozy illumination of the Halo Mini Exposed.
Is lighting important in your everyday life?
Of course! Due to my job as a content creator, having the right lighting is very important.
What do you look for in your lighting products?
Sol luminaire was highly recommended by my ID and friends. I was not only looking for sleek lights that would fit the theme, but also an expert that would understand my lighting needs and could propose sustainable solutions that could last.
Favourite luminaire from Sol Luminaire? Why?
Halo Mini Exposed. (Haha) I have so many of them!
They’re cute, small and powerful. You can also turn and tilt them for different lighting options and even adjust their brightness!
The Halo Mini Exposed adds subtle accents and adjustable illumination throughout Mong Chin's home.
How has your Smart Home system helped to improve your daily life?
We are able to customise the lighting moods according to the different activities we do, like switching between work to guest scene settings, and even movie settings where only 1-2 lights are kept on at 10-20% brightness.
What’s the most Instagrammable spot in your home?
I do take lots of pictures of my living room!
Describe your home in 3 words.
Comfortable, soothing, minimal.
