Sol Meets: How INTR Studio Creates Spaces That Stand The Test Of Time

For Eddie and Serene, the husband-and-wife duo behind INTR Studio, interior design goes beyond aesthetics—it’s about creating spaces that are both timeless and purposeful. Their signature style blends modern elegance with practical solutions, resulting in interiors that are as visually striking as they are livable.

Over time, their approach has evolved from bold experimentation to a more intentional balance of form and function. Every decision, from material selection to spatial planning, is guided by the goal of enhancing their clients' experience—ensuring each space is not only beautiful but also effortlessly thoughtful.

In this edition of Sol Meets, they share their thoughts on what makes a design truly enduring, the materials they love working with, and the transformative role of lighting. From creative inspirations to emerging trends, they offer a glimpse into their world and what excites them about the future of interior design.

Describe your signature style.

Our signature style is all about designing harmonious and functional spaces that combine modern aesthetics with timeless appeal. We focus on creating designs that are not only visually pleasing but also practical, ensuring they remain relevant and enjoyable for years to come.

What’s an underrated material you love working with?

We love working with the Gypsum. It’s usually used for partition walls and false ceilings, but it’s got so much more potential. It’s a really adaptable material that can be moulded into different shapes, which makes it great for custom design features like curved walls or even integrated lighting designs.

What’s your favourite aspect of your work?

Our favourite part of the work is the transformation—turning an idea into reality. It's incredibly rewarding to see a space evolve and witness the joy it brings to our clients. Working with clients who truly appreciate the process and share our vision makes the entire journey even more fulfilling.

Your projects tend to feature a variety of textures and'The key is to maintain a consistent colour palette and find a good balance between different finishes' materials. Do you have any tips for homeowners wanting to mix and match different materials to create a unified space? 'The key is to maintain a consistent colour palette and find a good balance between different finishes'

The key is to maintain a consistent colour palette and find a good balance between different finishes. For example, combining hard materials like stone or concrete with soft textiles such as linen can introduce texture and comfort. Adding natural materials like wood and stone adds warmth and depth while using neutral tones as a base helps tie everything together.

How has your approach or style evolved over the years?

Over the years, our style has become more focused and refined. When we first started, we were all about trying new things and experimenting. But as we gained more experience, we became more aware of how important it is to balance form and function. Now, whether it’s selecting materials, planning layouts, or choosing colours, we focus on making decisions that improve the user experience while staying true to the project’s goals.

This approach has helped us create work that not only looks good but also provides real, functional value to the people using it.

What are some interior design elements that you’d love to see in more Singaporean spaces?

Given the space limitations and similar layouts in many Singaporean homes, we’d love to see more creative solutions that make the most of open-plan designs and space-saving features. For example, multifunctional furniture, modular storage systems, and flexible layouts that can adapt to different needs would greatly enhance both functionality and style.

'Its slim profile is also a major advantage, especially in Singaporean homes where height clearance can sometimes be a constraint'

One of our favourites from Sol Luminaire® is the Halo series. We love how versatile it is, offering a range of options to suit various design needs. Its slim profile is also a major advantage, especially in Singaporean homes where height clearance can sometimes be a constraint.

What are some upcoming interior or lighting trends that are on your radar?

One of the key trends we’re keeping an eye on is the integration of smart home technology into interior and lighting design. The combination of technology and design is making spaces more adaptable, efficient, and personalized. We’re excited to explore how these innovations can enhance the user experience even more.

Where do you get your inspiration from? Any designers or artists in particular?

We get our inspiration from everywhere—online, architecture, walkabouts, travel, and even everyday moments. Just watching how light interacts with materials, textures, and spaces often sparks fresh ideas and new perspectives.

What’s a dream project you’d love to execute this year?

A dream project for us this year would be one where we have greater creative input and the freedom to experiment with design concepts. We’d love to work on an open-plan layout that embraces flexibility and fluidity, allowing us to push boundaries and explore unconventional ideas.
