Introduce yourself.
I’m Taufik Batisah, a realtor and co-founder of Ivory Cove.
How long have you been an interior designer?
My father has been a renovation contractor since I was about 10, so I grew up around homes being designed and transformed.
With the help of my partners, my brother Muzaffar and Afzal—who have over 12 years of industry experience—we managed to retire my father and took over his company last year and rebranded it into Ivory Cove.

How has being both a realtor and interior designer shaped your understanding of homeowners?
As a realtor, I look at value, location, capital appreciation, layout, and long-term potential. I help homeowners spot blind spots before they make a property decision.
Understanding design allows me to see beyond the current condition of the unit. Even when a space is old or un-renovated, I can visualise how it can be transformed to suit their lifestyle. I become a one stop shop for my clients property journey.
How has homeowner behaviour shifted as the market moves?

Some homeowners want their home to be a sanctuary, so they invest in design, comfort and details. Others are more practical, they prefer the bare minimum. They save their money and focus on long-term capital appreciation. Neither is wrong, it really depends on what home means to them. How has Bali changed the way you design your home?
My wife and I loved Bali, we used to travel there a lot. Now, we don't go to Bali anymore, and decided to bring the resort life back home through warm tones, natural textures, wood and stone-inspired finishes, and soft lighting. It makes being at home feel like a holiday.

Is there a corner where lighting transforms how you feel?
Definitely the kitchen island area. The warm lighting completely changes the mood of the space. It feels more cosy, intimate, and inviting. It is no longer just a place to prepare food, but a place to gather with family and friends. Have conversations and just slow down.
Is smart home automation a want or a need?
I think it starts as a want, but once you experience it, it becomes a need. After a long day of work, it's about coming home to comfort, convenience, and making daily routines feel more seamless.
